I have been so busy the last months that I have forgot to add pics from the weekend in November when my old-time friend Anna (who is a stern police in Sweden) and her two friends Malin and Lina, came to visit us. They had the chance to relax a few hrs from the flight from Sweden before we headed into Otehake Hotpools. It was a great way to get over their jetlags!! I was surprised how hard the tramp was, but realised back home that we had taken the more difficult path, the flood route. It was good exercise to be climbing up and down steep slopes covered in tree roots.

The Swedish force was pretty tired by the time we reached the hotpools and they sounded quite surprised about the small size of the pools. The river was really low and the pools looked mostly like puddles. After an hr of digging we had increased them to comfortable depth and once the sun set we were in there: Charlie and four Swedish girls. He didn't complain and we didn't either when he gave us a beer each. It was a good start of Anna et al's three week adventure in New Zealand.
It was a real shame that I didn't have time to see them much, since I was down in Dunedin and Kepler Challenge was on the agenda as well. I know they had a fab time and they had the opportunity to enjoy Charlie's hospotality in Chch as well.

Almost back to the car. Just a scenic walk through the Taramakau gorse left.

This kind of deep river crossings are not very common in Sweden. Charlie and I taught them to "Harden up!" the kiwi way.
