I have kept a diary since I was 7 years old. I hope that this one will be a great way of keeping my family and friends updated with what's going on in my head and in my life.

Wild life safari in Dunners
Charlie's parents came down to the South Island and rented a campervan, which served them well and made them see many beautiful parts of the country. During the weekends, Charlie and I tried to catch up with them at different locations. We had a very fun weekend in Dunedin in mid January.
Dunedin is a city with relatively many "historic" looking houses and many people expect Dunners to be a second Edinburgh since many of the street names stem from the that city. The Scottish city is a lot bigger than Dunedin with its population of 110,000 and has only one castle this is NZ we are talking about).
We checked out the mighty Southern Royal Albatross colony out on the Taiaroa Head. It was amazing to get so close to them and understand just how massive they are. I was a huge fan of their big feet which they use for steering in the wind. They look so funny.
We freedom camped at the top of the Heads with great views. Nice wine and food made us feel happy when the rain was pounding us at one point,

During the night, we waited for rafts of blue penguins to come ashore in the bay below. They arrived when it was just about dark the little buggers walked past us (even underneath John's chair). The blue penguin stands just 25 cm tall and weighs a little over 1 kilogram. They are a lot smaller than the yellow eyed penguins which you can also see on the Peninsula. Blue Penguins are so cute and I was very tempted to bring one home in my jacket!!
