Why is unique to New Zealand? Episode 1

I thought it is about bloody time for me to clarify what is unique with New Zulland. What do we do different in New Zealand??Why is this place cool?

Sheep: there are lots and lots and lots of them. They are almost everywhere. They are pretty stupid but often very cute. I must have had something for sheep ever since I as a child named all my uncle’s sheep and tried to make them tame every summer in Finland.

Shorts over plypro leggings: A sexy fashion which hasn’t made it to Sweden…yet. It looks pretty awful but it is very practical. Almost all kiwi trampers wear it, but when you become more experienced and when you have hardened up enough, you can wear shorts and no leggings no matter what temperatures you are exposed to.

Beer: Let me just say same shit different name! They all taste pretty much the same: Speights, Tui, DB. They all work well to flush down the more or less disgusting kiwi sausages that you have to eat at all BBQs. Nah, there are a few beers that I like here. Any beer is good when you are thirsty anyway!

New Zealand sausages: fat fat fat and a little bit of flavour.

Theme parties: No party without a theme!! That's the rule here. People really get into their costume making and spend heaps of time preparing for the big day. It is fun, however it puts me off to "pop into" a party which has a theme if I can't be bothered with a fancy costume. The most hilarious thing a guy can dress up as is like a girl: Some pubs have free beer for guys with skirts. I think some guys have some serious identity problems here. I blame it on the rugby culture :-)

Pics below: Jules as a tasty tequila, me as a killer rabbit from Quest for the holy grail, Mike as a grandad and Juliane not as a condom (believe it or not) but actually as a Tequila sunrise drink.

Speights kind of reminded me a bit of czech beer such as starobrvno as far as I recall. To be honest I miss the oppertunity to be able to buy Speights in stores in Sweden... :(
