I am collecting a huge stack of flight points while I am creating lots of carbon emissions. Oh, I feel sooo sustainable!!! I guess I feel a bit better when Landcare Research offsets all their carbon emissions created by our air travel. Thanks Air New Zealand for all the biscuits and air emissions.

I try to combine work trips with fun stuff as well. I visited Dave in Whangamata last weekend. We had a very relaxing and cool weekend with delicious food, multiple swims and fun with looking at ugly Aucklander’s rich man houses with their own launch/helicopter outside the “batch” in Paunui. I didn’t know that most people with lots of money here have absolutely no taste. Some houses seems to be designed to look like prisons. It is fashionable to have a concrete bunker with plenty of stainless steel features. I miss the Swedish style houses sometimes: red Falu red colour with red corners as the picture below.

Dave and I went to Auckland where I had two presentations the next day. We went to an awesome Japanese restaurant. I got a bit sashimied out I must admit. It was truly a taste sensational experience!! I am still practising with the chop sticks, but I must admit that I have slightly better table manners than these little buggers:

The summer seems to finally have arrived. Nina Phil and I have made it out to the beach many times the last weeks. It is so refreshing to go for a dip after a run by the beach. I need to learn how to surf soon since it’s been on my wish list for so many years!
