Memories from a beautiful wedding

I recently read a brilliant book called "Kite runner" by Afghan author Khaled Hosseini and I also saw the movie, which reflects the book in a very accurate way. It is a touching movie and I had many tears in my eye by the end.

I was reminded of my friend Mona's wedding when I saw a wedding scene in the movie. Mona and Homayoun's wedding took place in August last year. I have been close friends with Mona since 1990 and I was thrilled to see her having found the man to grow old with:

They are both from Iran and many of the traditions at the wedding were Persian. It was a very special day and I was so happy to see her so beautiful. Asa and I had the honour to take give them helping hand. We held this white cloth above the heads of the bride and groom. All women came and ground two "sticks" of sugar against eachother on top of the cloth to give the bride and the groom the sweetness in life. Mona can correct me if I am incorrect...

Mona, Homayoun with Asa and myself, Tomas and Ulla.

Tomas (hiding at the back) and Ulla (in red) "took care" of Mona a lot of times when she was growing up and she had just arrived to Sweden from Iran with her mum and bothers. Tomas and Ulla lived in the same area as Asa and I did and we gradually started hanging out with Mona more and more until we were inseparable. We have had a lot of fun times together over the years and more to come I hope...
